WORK & TRAVEL ASIA

The Work & Travel Asia program is designed for enrolled students and recently graduated students who wish to broaden their experiences in a new cultural setting across Asia! No previous work experience, internships, or related hospitality studies are required, as participants will receive basic training to feel comfortable in their assigned positions. This program provides a great opportunity for first-timers to work while traveling, discover new places, and engage in cultural exchanges with locals, fellow program participants, and international guests!

Our hospitality internship programs are arranged in collaboration with a professional international host organization. We arrange internships with 4 & 5 star hotels, who will provide living benefits for participants. YDP Work & Travel programs are arranged with hotels that understand the utmost importance of providing a quality training experience for the future generation of employees in the hospitality industry.

Programme Requirements

Aged between 18 and 32 years (there are some exceptions to those over 32 years of age)
Major: Hospitality- restaurant-relevant faculties. Restaurant management, culinary arts etc.
You need to have your transcript with subjects related to the restaurant sphere as culinary, food preparation/ decoration, cooking.
Either a) Full time student OR; b) A recent graduate (within the past 3 years)
School, college, or university letter of endorsement
Proficient in the English language
In good health and physically fit
A valid South African passport (or proof that you have applied for one)
A police clearance certificate.

Included in the programme fee

All processing costs in South Africa and Asia
Application, interview and placement
Visa application assistance to obtain the necessary Internship Visa for a 12 month duration (or longer).
Pre-departure orientation.

Earnings

WE PLACE YOU THROUGHOUT ASIA – Our Cultural Exchange Programs span the entire Asian region, and therefore rumeneration will differ vastly.

We place candidates in properties in Indonesia / Malaysia / Thailand / The United Arab Emirates / The Maldives / Vietnam / Hong Kong / Qatar.

Remuneration for this programme is minimal, the main objective being practical work experience and academic credit. You are paid a living wage and therefore will be able to live comfortably in any of the asian countries.

Salary: No less than $300 per month pocket money.

Interns will be required to follow a structured training plan while participating in the programme.

Average working hours per week: 45 to 50
Average working days per week: 5 to 6
Public holidays granted
Personal leave granted for 12-month agreement

How

Once you have registered for the programme and paid your registration fee, YDP Work & Travel will conduct an interview with you. Here not only will we make sure you are qualified for this programme, we will also give you the tools and manuals for writing not just a great CV, but a covering letter that will explain to your prospective employer that they don’t need to worry about the visa process as YDP and our partner sponsors you on the proper visa. Then our partner (electronically) will interview you to find your perfect internship / job, it’s not that hard to find a job quickly (so be prepared to leave South Africa within 2 months of applying). Once all this paperwork is done, our partner will apply for the visa for you, which takes 7 to 10 working days. Then voila, book your ticket and you are on your way.
